    The Procedure

    Female Hair Transplant can be highly successful and comfortable for women looking for a permanent solution for hair loss. The procedure starts with the extraction of individual hair follicles from a donor part of the body which is usually the back and the sides of the head. These individual follicles are then implanted in the recipient area.

    When performing hair transplant procedures for women the basic principles remain, however, there is an important difference that should be noted. Women are able to undergo a hair transplant procedure without shaving their head completely. A small window is created in the donor area, with only this part being shaved. Thus, it is possible for the existing hair to conceal the small shaved area.

    1.How does Female Hair Transplant work?

    The general procedure of hair transplant surgery involves moving healthy hair follicles from one location on the scalp and transplanting them to places on the scalp, face, or body lacking hair density. Hair transplant surgery on the scalp works very well for Female Pattern Hair Loss (FPHL) caused by hormone changes because the transplanted hair follicles are not vulnerable to hormones in the same way the follicles on the top of the head are.
    Hair transplant surgery is also a great option for those with permanent hair loss due to traction alopecia. This type of hair loss is caused by frequently wearing tight or heavy hairstyles like very tight ponytails or buns, and many protective styles like braids, cornrows, and Bantu knots.       What is an Eyebrow Transplant

      The Procedure

      Prior to your Eyebrow Transplant, your hair restoration specialist will design and outline your desired eyebrow shape with a surgical marker. The doctor will take your feedback and aesthetic goals into consideration while planning your treatment.

      Similar to the Hair Transplant procedure, the hair restoration surgeon will employ local anaesthetics to numb the area. The surgeon then extracts the hair follicles from the donor area and carefully grafts them into the recipient area.

      Depending on how many hairs are going to be transplanted, the procedure can last anywhere between 3 to 5 hours. Accuracy and precision are the key to a successful eyebrow transplantation.

      1.What are the benefits of Ryebrow transplants as opposed to Microblading?

      Eyebrow transplants are the best way to achieve permanent, three-dimensional eyebrows. With transplantation, your own hair is transferred typically from the back of the head to your brow region to create a new, fuller eyebrow. Hairs grow naturally and are permanent. Microblading, on the other hand, is a method by which pigment is used to create the appearance of hairs within the very outer layers of the skin. This process is not real hair, does not give a three-dimensional look, and tends to fade over time, so it’s a process that must be repeated to maintain results.

      In general, most patients are appropriate candidates for the Eyebrow transplant. Because the best-quality donor hair is typically found on the back of the scalp, straight to slightly wavy hair is ideal for best results since very curly hair could translate to curl within the brows. Reasonable good medical condition is important to minimize the risk of complications. In addition, patients who have lost their eyebrow hairs as a result of genetics, over-plucking, or trauma are generally the best candidates. Patients with alopecia and other medical causes for hair loss are not typically good candidates and would need to be evaluated on an individual basis.

      Most patients will only need to undergo the procedure once to achieve their goals. In some cases, such as in-patients who have scar tissue from traumatic injury or due to procedures like microblading and tattooing, a second procedure may be required. This is because scar tissue has reduced blood flow and some of the transplanted follicles may not “take” as well as when there is no scar tissue present. Many patients who have had microblading or tattooing of their eyebrows, however, do not require a second procedure.

        What is a Beard and Moustache Transplant?

Usually men who have undergone this procedure are able to shave after just fourteen days, and the new hair can be styled similarly to the already existing hair. However, it’s not unusual to find that the new hairs actually fall out after two to three weeks, and although it seems as though the transplant may have been unsuccessful, it’s actually a normal process and indication of a positive response to transplantation. Once it has fallen out, the hair will start growing back permanently, although it might take three to four months while the papillae need some time to adjust and grow ‘roots’ after the shock of implantation. Full growth can be expected in about six to eight months. The success rate on this procedures is very high and the new hair is a permanent addition; it will have the same texture and characteristics as normal hair and can be styled just like natural hair once settled.

        The Procedure

        DHI Beard and Moustache transplant procedure takes about 3-5 hours to complete, depending on the area covered and the beard density you are looking for.

        1.Is the Beard transplant procedure similar to the Hair transplant procedure?

        Allthough there are some slight differences, a Beard transplant procedure, both in terms of process and technique is quite similar to a Hair transplant which involves extracting donor hair from the scalp. Your specialist chooses the hair, which closely matches your facial hair and then carefully transplants it to the recipient site.

        In cases of those with a balding head, our DHI certified doctor may extract donor hair from chest hair.

        Approximately one week after the moustache or beard transplant, the transplanted area will look very natural. The donor area will heal in about 15 days, after which you will have the same natural appearance that you had before the operation. You are well on your way to facial hair restoration, and any side effects are rare.

        Recovery time and instructions are the same as the normal DHI hair transplant procedures. Typically, you must avoid direct sun exposure on the area for 2 months. You should avoid shaving or trimming the area for one month, and avoid intense friction, water pressure, or hot water on the area for one month as well. You may gently wash and moisturize the face each day, as you would in a normal setting. The transplanted hairs will fall out within the first month (or in the weeks following). Then, after six months, patients should see most of the final result. Depending on the number of follicles transplanted, it may take 12 to 18 months before everything is growing naturally and normally, as if it had always been there.

        For the vast majority of patients, all transplanted hair should lasts a lifetime. In some cases, a small percentage of transplanted hair may be lost as the patient ages.

        Patients who are onsidering a hair transplant in any form should also keep in mind that hair transplants do not have any effect on hormones or the cells and signals that trigger hair growth, they do not treat the cause of thinning hair that eventually leads to hair loss. Unfortunately this means the benefits of a hair transplant can be limited depending on the pattern of your hair loss. If a hair transplant is not supplemented by appropriate medical therapy, there is allways the chance that your hair will continue to thin until it’s lost altogether. This means a hair transplant procedure will need to be repeated for sustained hair coverage, but this can only be done if there is hair available for transplant in your donor area.

        Some of these appropriate medical therapies are:

        • Finasteride (DHT protector, pill – limited to a percentage of males);
        • Minoxidil (topical, hair growth cycle extender topical);
        • Hair Regeneration (stem cell catalyst, injection).

          Hair Transplant

          DHI hair transplantation is the most advanced hair transplantation technique. At the beginning of the century it became the latest technique that evolved out of the FUT-Strip technique. It was developed by the same team who introduced the FUE technique. In 2010, research in hair transplantation led to the development of Direct Hair Implantation (DHI), and today, Direct Hair Implantation® has been widely performed worldwide as a technique that makes patients hopes and expectations come true.

          With DHI hair transplantation or Direct Hair Implantation, the hair follicles are individually placed in sparse areas on the scalp. Each hair follicle is placed in a certain direction, angle and depth, providing 100% natural results and maximum applicability thanks to DHI-patented instruments.

          The entire procedure is carried out by our trained and certified doctors in Antalya, under strict DHI quality standardization protocols set up to achieve excellent results every time.

          Suitable candidates for DHI Hair Transplantation

          Weither a patient is suitable for DHI Hair Transplantation is conclusively determined after examination of both the donor hair area as well as the recipient area.

          It is however possible to give some general guidelines to give an idea on who will or can make a suitable candidate for this procedure:

          • During the procedure donor hair is harvested from a different area on the patient’s scalp. This means that the hair coat on the donor area should have an appropriate density. If you don’t have sufficient hair-growth in the donor area (just above the neck), grafts can be taken from the beard area. And if the density of the beard is not sufficient, sometimes chest-hair can be used as well.
          • Technically DHI hair transplantation can be applied to all suitable patients starting from the age of 18 and upwards. However since hair loss in between the age of 18 to 25 is quite unpredictable, we reccomend to perform this procedure on patients aged over 25.
          • People with thicker hair usually achieve better results than people with thinner hair. This is because thicker hair gives each hair follicle more coverage.
          • Patients with hair loss in only one region are usually the best candidates for the DHI technique. Especially since use of the DHI technique enables a very dense implantation of hairs.
          • People with light hair or with a hair color close to their skin tone often achieve the best results.
          • DHI Hair transplantation is known to be applicable to straight and thick Asian type of hairs, since DHI was originally developed in that part of the world. However it can just as easily be used to transplant thinner and curly hair types.

          The Procedure

          During the extraction of the hair follicles, each hair follicle is extracted one by one from the donor area using a specially designed disposable instrument with a diameter of 1 mm or less. The follicles are then preserved at a certain temperature, in a solution that improves the quality of the grafts without separating, cutting or generally touching them.

          In the insertion step, the hair follicles are implanted directly into the area where the hair loss occurs, using a patented tool called DHI Implanter which has a diameter of 1 mm or less, without forming a hole or slot.

          With DHI hair transplantation, full control of the placement depth, direction and angle of each graft ensures 100% natural results and maximum applicability.

          1.The advantages of DHI hair transplantation
          • With DHI hair transplantation, patients do not have to shave their head completely before the procedure if they wish.
          • Direct Hair Implantation (DHI) treatment is suitable for both male and female patients.
          • In most cases, patients can go back to work the next day after the session.
          • In cases of excessive hair loss and when the hairs on the back of the head are not sufficient to cover the recipient area, it is possible to use face and body hair.
          • Since the implanted hair will not fall out, a long-term medication is not required. However, medications are recommended to prevent thinning and loss of existing hair.

          It takes 12 months to see complete results and full hair growth, but results including anterior hairline treatment become visible within two months.

          Unlike other hair transplantation methods – such as FUE and FUT (Strip) – with Direct Hair Implantation, there are no cuts or holes in the recipient area. The hair follicles are implanted directly into the area with the patented DHI Implanter tool. This allows full control of the depth, direction, and angle of placement of each graft. As opposed to other hair transplantation methods, DHI or Direct Hair Implantation method does not include scalpels, receiving incisions or stitches. Follicular hair units are extracted one by one using a specially designed disposable instrument with a diameter of 1 mm or less to avoid trauma to the area.

          With DHI Direct Hair Implantation, there is no transformation of hair follicles to avoid the risk of necrotic debris and also to avoid the effects of being out of their natural environment for a long time. Instead, the hair follicles extracted with DHI Direct Hair Implantation are placed directly and maintained at a certain temperature and in a solution that increases their growth after placement.           Following a DHI Hair transplant, the first few days after the procedure the patient can expect mild swelling in the forehead area which usually begins on day three and will completely dissolve in a few days. The patient also develops small blood crusts at the transplanted area and these are expected to fall out completely after the 10th day.

          The patient is expected to resume his/her daily activities within 48 hours after the procedure, however strenuous activities needs to be avoided for up to 4 weeks. Shedding of the implanted hairs is to be expected within a couple of weeks and will then begin to re-grow after 3 to 4 months. The final results will typically be seen 12 months after the procedure, however by the fifth to sixth month the patient can expect to see considerable new hair growth.
